Burlington's Multi Talented Dapper Doctor - Bay Observer Staff

"As a graduate of McGill University, you’d think Dr. John Hewson would at least know which day is Sunday. Apparently he never learned to read a calendar because he wears a three-piece suit, vest, tie, pouf in the lapel, fedora and dress shoes seven days a week, even when he’s picking up loose garbage on the street.
Hewson, who retired in 2000 from his job as Chief of the Department of Critical Care Medicine for Hamilton Health Sciences, has an easy explanation for why he’s always dressed to the nines."
Dr. JR Hewson (“JR”) is a retired academic anesthesiologist and pioneer in Critical Care Medicine (CCM) who has done it all—clinical practice, teaching, research, and founding a worldclass intensive care unit.
But there’s another side to JR, a creative side. Over the years, he has written three novels and a two-act play. In recent times, he’s become an award-winning actor in community theatre.
JR is also Burlington's best dressed retiree according to the Bay Observer. He is never seen without his three piece suit and fedora!

"Hewson, a professor emeritus in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, drew from his own experiences as a medical professional and piano player to create "Corbett's Daughter."
The plot follows Daniel Corbett, a former heart surgeon who spent a decade in jail after being convicted of his wife's murder.
One day, as Corbett is playing a piano in a Toronto restaurant during Sunday brunch, he spots a young girl he immediately suspects of being his estranged daughter."
